Screen Your Reports

Plus Computer Solutions has recently posted an article on their blog about the importance of screening reports in Sage Accpac ERP. Screening is very similar to “Print Preview” in that you view the report before you print it. This saves you time, printer ink, paper, etc. in case there are errors in the report that you may have not noticed before printing.

In the main Accpac window/System Manager, under “File”, you can set the the “Print Destination” to “Screen.” To check if it is already set to “Screen”, look for an icon on the bottom right of your Accpac window that looks like a blank piece of paper with a magnifying glass on it - similar to the one found in Microsoft Office programs. It indicates your current print destination.

Live Webcast: Want to Learn More About Process Scheduler?

Submit to Digg digg it |  Add to delicious  delicious |  Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn | Submit to Reddit reddit

Were you recently at our Accpac Thanksgiving event and lucky enough to listen in on one of Rob Lavery's sessions? I was fortunate enough to hear him describe Orchid Systems' Process Scheduler and how it can help automate mundane processes. For example, instead of having to run data integrity checks at nights on weekends (unfortunately, the only time that others aren't in the system), you can run an automated schedule to run integrity checks for you instead by using Process Scheduler! Your Friday nights are yours again!

To catch a live Webcast on the Process Scheduler as well as on Bin Tracking in warehouses for inventory control, join this Webcast on Monday, November 30, 2009.

This past Thursday, November 19, Terrell & Terrell hosted its 10th annual client appreciation conference, Accpac Thanksgiving!

We kicked off the day with a great keynote speaker, Joe Rotella, who presented us with ways to use social media to boost the bottom line. Followed by lunch at Fogo de Chao , attendees were given the choice of 9 different breakout sessions including sessions about Sage FAS Fixed Assets, Orchid Systems, Pacific Technology, SageCRM, Accpac Tips and Tricks, and many more. During the closing session, great prizes were given away including gift cards to Fogo de Chao, a gift certificate to Music in Motion, and a free SageCRM LanPak! Congratulations to the winners!

Attendees were also able to receive 8 CPE credits for attending the entire day. Once again, we created a funny, yet informative, video that was first shown at Accpac Thanksgiving. Click Here to see it! It's a spoof of "The Dating Game," but about someone who is trying to find the great ERP system. (I wonder which one she chooses...?!?)

So please join us next year if you missed out on this annual event! Thank you to everyone who came out! The event was a great success, and we hope to see you again net November!

As cloud computing continues to gain popularity, it is also accompanied with the expected, healthy skepticism. When a firm decides to incorporate cloud computing into its business, it must decide if the cloud computing benefits will outweigh the costs and risks, such as security. A recent report, "Cloud Computing: Benefits, Risks, and Recommendations for Information Security," conducted by the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), points out the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing and gives advice on how to avoid risks. If you haven’t upgraded to Sage Accpac ERP v5.5 already, it may be because you have yet to hear about its new features that can enhance your current accounting system.

One of the features of version 5.5 is that it is now easier to modify customer, vendor, general ledger, and item numbers by changing, combining, or copying any of these factors. Previously, this option was only available as  a separate module but it is now included in the updated 5.5 version.

Accpac Co-Founder, Don Thomson, Speaks up About Accpac Speed

Don Thomson is one of the co-founders of Sage Accpac ERP. His insightful blog is where the following passage comes from:

“Today’s press releases, such as ‘MySpace dumps server hard disks for flash drives’ may not seem to have any relationship with Accpac. It does. If you follow certain lines of reasoning, flash drives could mean massively faster performance characteristics for Accpac.

Use of solid state technology (flash drives) is another example of a sea-change in the software industry being driven by iPod users’ insatiable demand for more storage. The personal computer (IT) industry no longer drives storage technology. It is all about iPods capable of storing more music and more movies – using solid state (flash drive) technology.” Read More…
