Make bin tracking easy and efficient with ACCU-DART!
The old way:
Every time an item is picked for shipping or moved from one bin to another, the warehouse staff has to manually record which bin the item was taken from and where it will go. This information is then entered into the accounting system.
Because bin movements are not being recorded in real-time, errors are easily made and inventory is always out of date.
The ACCU-DART way:
When an item is picked for shipping or for any other bin movement, the warehouse staff can scan the items with ACCU-DART's radio-frequency scanners. ACCU-DART will prompt the user to enter the current bin they are taking the items from and the destination bin. ACCU-DART validates and, upon posting, automatically updates the accounting system in real-time.
For Sage Accpac ERP users, this functionality is available through integration with the bin tracking solution designed by Orchid Systems. This new 3rd party solution allows Sage Accpac ERP users to track inventory items stored in multiple bins within a warehouse or Inventory Control location.
ACCU-DART makes it easy to maintain inventory and bin accuracy within the warehouse. Click Here for more information about our partner.

Many firms hire interns because they are a less expensive substitute for employees. However, there are other important monetary AND non-monetary reasons why you should have interns in your office.
Interns can do the work that does not really fall under any one specific employee's job description - a free-for-all category that includes the new unassigned tasks and projects. You can have them work under one person or help out an entire department.
Your interns can do the repetitive tasks you may find mundane, but which they find to be informative and valuable as they are learning new things. This experience enables your interns to learn more about the underlying details of how your company is run and grasp a wider perspective of your business as a whole.
Although not required, many firms eventually end up hiring their interns as full-time employees. The obvious advantage here is that you don't have to spend the resources looking for and training a new employee when it comes time to hire for an actual position that needs to be filled.
Another thing to think about is the time and money already invested in your interns - you would not want them to take what they have learned from your firm and apply it at your nearest competitors' business!
So take advantage of the knowledge you have supplied your interns - you may find that your interns are transforming into valuable and committed future assets for your firm.

For a new and innovative technology to really take off, people need to a) be aware about it and b) understand the implications of adopting this new technology. Therefore, the purpose of my entry here is to create more buzz about a WONDERFUL and useful new technology that could really begin to change things for us - wireless electricity.
This is not a new idea by any means - it has been under ongoing research since the 1890's. But until now, it has not been safe or cheap enough to put on the market, according to CNN.com.
This wireless technology means that only a few years from now, we will no longer need power cords for our computers or even batteries. The environmental and energy-saving benefits and implications from using wireless electricity are enormous. Use of electric cars may increase as "refueling" would simply mean driving onto a wireless power mat, rather than plugging in.
Of course, the technology is not yet ready to hit the markets - some kinks that need to be figured out include sending higher amounts of power over longer distances, rather than just several feet, as well as combining all devices onto one power pad, rather than using separate chargers for each device. Although these power pad sources would be plugged into electric sockets, these pads would still be more energy efficient than plugging each device directly into the power sockets. The devices would be placed on the mat to recharge.
Imagine the liberating feeling of picking up your laptop and moving it around without having to unplug cords or worry about remaining battery life. Imagine never using batteries again or worrying about their environmental impacts on Earth. Imagine all the extra "green" space you will have at your desk!

Cash, credit, check, or phone? This may be what the cashier will ask you at your local grocery store in the near future as you make your purchase.
Today, in the year 2009, it seems like our cell phones are becoming more and more vital to our every day activities. Aside from the regular phone features of making calls and sending text messages, many of us now carry smartphones that provide benefits our old electronics used to give us - music, the Internet, camera, GPS, etc. But did you know that cell phones can be used as credit cards, keys, subway turnstile cards, and even as your ID? There would no longer be a reason to carry around a wallet or even your car keys!
Of course, there are always issues of security. Will someone discover a way to hack into smartphones and steal our identities? Would someone who steals a cell phone be able to access personal information? These dangers could be counteracted by enabling fingerprint and retina scanning identification on these phones in order to access private information such as credit card data and driver's license information.
Some of us have already disposed of our old digital cameras and mp3 players because our phones have now taken over those functions...why not also get rid of keys, wallets, and plastic cards while we're at it? Is this putting TOO many eggs in one basket? Only the future will tell.

We all know that social media is now being used more often by employers to help in "researching" prospective employees. But did you know that government agencies like the Internal Revenue Service are now using social media to track down tax evaders and perform audits?
According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, revenue agents are only allowed to use publicly available information which means use of the more public MySpace and Twitter sites rather than Facebook. Agents are also not allowed to use false information when "friending" someone - so if you see that someone named "TaxMan11946" is "following" you on Twitter, you may be under the watchful eye of your local tax agency.
Some tax agencies have blocked these social media sites in the past but are now beginning to realize the cost and time-saving advantages of using them. Even performing a simple Google search may pull up results about recent business ventures and relocations of suspected tax dodgers that help state revenue agents track down these tax evaders.
One example is given by The Wall Street Journal, "In Minnesota, authorities were able to levy back taxes on the wages of a long-sought tax evader after he announced on MySpace that he would be returning to his hometown to work as a real-estate broker and gave his employer's name. The state collected several thousand dollars, the full amount due."
Use social media wisely, both as an end-user and as an employer. You never know who might be "following" you.
