The iPhone Operating System 3.0 Update

Posted by Meredith Gooch on Mon, Jun 29, 2009

With the release of the iPhone Operating System (OS) 3.0 Update on June 17th, along with the release of the new iPhone 3G S on June 19th, this month has been quite an exciting one for iPhone owners. For now, my “old” 3G iPhone feels almost new with all the upgraded capabilities the update has added. Here is a list of  the new features I love the most:

1) You can now copy and paste words in text messages, the Web, contact book, and endless other programs - making it easier to do things such as input addresses into the map from your email and text messages.

2) You can now pick and choose which specific text messages you want to delete from your text log, rather than having to clear the entire conversation.

3) From your homepage, if you press the home button, you will be taken to another screen called “Spotlight” that allows you to search your entire iPhone for names, songs, programs, etc. without having to go through lists and unnecessary taps.

4) You can finally flip your phone to the side and send text messages quicker than ever before using BOTH hands instead of only your index finger.

I have only mentioned a few of the many value-added features of the new OS 3.0 update for the iPhone. What are you waiting for? Upgrade today at http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/!

iPhone Application Spotlight: Recorder

Posted by Meredith Gooch on Thu, Apr 30, 2009

Have you ever come up with a great idea while driving down the road, but you didn’t have a way to jot it down? How often have you needed to create a to-do list but couldn’t find a pen and paper? I experience those pains regularly, such as forgetting to pick up milk on the way home, or where I parked at the Love Field Airport parking lot. I recently learned, as they say in the iPhone world, “there’s an app for that.”

If you are a proud owner of an iPhone, like me, you might find the Recorder application very useful if you have ever found yourself in these situations. You can record with as little as two taps, making things easier in a hands-tied-up situation.

The Recorder application for the iPhone costs $0.99, and is currently one of the top selling iPhone Business applications! The Recorder can record a few seconds to hours at a time, so you can record interviews, discussions, lectures, and much more. There is also the option of emailing short recordings straight from your iPhone, or you can sync the recordings to your computer using Wi-Fi for longer recordings.

Find it at: http://www.apple.com/iphone/appstore/

Recorder is compatible with iPhone and iTouch 2nd Generation.

Requires iPhone 2.0 software update.
