Small Businesses Should Accept Online Payments for Faster Collections

The New York Times published an article recently that speaks to the difficulties small businesses are having in this economy with regard to collecting payment from customers. The journalist brings up some good points including running credit checks and deciding to make certain clients cash-only based on the reports; offering a discount to customers who pay immediately; and communicating the importance of paying invoices on-time to your business. One of her suggestions that stands out to me is not relying on the post office as an excuse. It is easy to say, "the check is in the mail." The journalist's suggestion is to setup an online payment solution.
