Can Robotics Process Automation be the answer for complex integration projects?

In this interview, Johnny Ramondino, President of IN-RGY Consulting, and Brian Terrell, Managing Partner of BTerrell Group, discuss how utilizing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) simplifies, streamlines and speeds up complex integrations. The interview reveals benefits of using RPA for integration projects vs. other off the shelf tools.

Brian Terrell, Managing Partner of BTerrell Group and an Intacct Partner, creates business process automation using Cloud ERP and leading automation tools, including RPA software. RPA automates many business processes faster than other options by accessing applications through the user interface in a code-free and non-invasive manner.

This is the fourth in a series of articles and videos where we get Johnny’s take on deploying RPA alongside mid-market Cloud ERP.

Brian Terrell: We think Robotic Process Automation provides us with another great tool to integrate applications with Intacct, our best-in-class Cloud accounting and finance application. Of course, we can always use Intacct's world-class API, but doesn't RPA give us another tool for our tool kit?

Johnny Ramondino: If you're thinking about integration, there are so many tools available on the market today. Sometimes it may be easier to buy a tool off the shelf or to build one, quite frankly, than use Robotic Process Automation. One should always question whether there is a better way to solve the problem other than using robotics.

Often, there isn’t a better, more expedient, or less expensive way to integrate applications. One of the benefits of Robotic Process Automation is that it does provide the option of leveraging APIs whenever they're available, so the robot doesn't have to go through the user interface. The robot can go directly to any API through any database, any web servers and more. Where there are no APIs available, the robot can use the user interface of any application to interact just as a human would. In a nutshell, where APIs fall short or where integration falls short, or where you have to deal with multiple applications that your business process has to glue together, the Robotic Process Automation solution can help you get that extra level of automation in place that just isn't available with traditional integration options.
