Company core values in action

At BTerrell, our core values guide our efforts to provide back-office development services for Intacct and Sage VARs and their client companies. In a recent article I wrote for the CodePartners blog (our company’s software development division), I included three recent emails from VAR customers offering feedback on the role we played in helping them offer more valuable services to their client companies.

In the first, the bterrell-med_business partner thanks us for sending a weekly status update on the project’s progress, which demonstrates our company core value of Communication. In the second, a VAR praises Ganesh for a “remarkable job…of working directly with the client”, and this demonstrates our company core value of Commitment. In the last example, the business partner highlights the technical difficulty of the project, and it seems that all our engagements are tough. This ability to produce something original that solves a complex business problem demonstrates our company core value of Creativity.

To add definition around our core values, we attach a phrase. Here are the three company core values mentioned and the phrases that clarify and amplify their daily application:

Communication - We keep stakeholders, within and without, aware of what we’ve done, what’s next, and what we need to keep moving forward

Commitment - Team trumps talent when talent is in the team

Creativity - We create client company value, in the form of automation, which looks like magic when first observed

That last value, by the way, charges me up. I like to remind our talented team members that we are artists engaged in the creation process. I know that’s true because if it already existed, our clients would not need us. But they do, and I am grateful.

If you need communication, commitment and creativity from a finance and accounting automation business partner, please give me a chance to discuss that need with you!
